Barry Owen
Born in Co.Down, Northern Ireland, came to London to study at the London College of Music for 3 years, obtaining diploma for teaching violin. Represented Ireland in National Song Contests winning in Sweden, Russia, Finland and Austria then fronted top social function band The Chance Band for 5 years playing to the rich, famous and Royal.
Formed own band called OWEN and co-wrote original album “Our own little stories” produced by Steve Levine (Culture Club, Beach Boys etc.) appearing on BBC1’s Live and Kicking for six weeks as well as performing on Children In Need and The Fleadh in Finsbury Park in front of 30,000 people.
Barry’s first love is country music especially the vocals of Vince Gill, Radney Foster, Kenny Chesney and Dwight Yoakam, although female singers such as Shania Twain, Faith Hill and LeeAnn Rimes are also much admired. Feels he has found the ideal writing and production partnership with Phil and Dzal’s exceptional musical abilities to create great sounds, great songs and emulate his heroes.
Trivial pursuit fact: Barry played fiddle on the recent re-make of ‘In the Summertime’ by Mike Read!
